Early on Sunday morning at 1.30 a.m., a patrol in the Zurich Oberland noticed a car traveling at excessive speed, according to a press release from the cantonal police. However, the driver ignored the stop signs of the following police cars and sped through several villages at over 100 km/h.
A traffic check was underway in Dürnten at the same time. However, the teenager drove straight towards the checkpoint without stopping, so that a policewoman "could only jump to the side to get to safety", according to the report.
Investigations revealed that the speeding driver was a minor whose identity was already known. The police broke off the pursuit and located the driver's whereabouts on Sunday morning. They handed the 14-year-old Swiss national over to the juvenile prosecutor's office, according to the police.
