It concerns allegations from 2014 and 2015 in connection with suspected rape offenses and sexual assaults, the police told Deutsche Presse-Agentur (dpa).

The reopening of the investigation followed the launch of an internal investigation by the supervisory authority into alleged failings in the Tate case. Three women had made allegations against Tate to the police, but the case was closed in 2019 after a four-year investigation, as the PA news agency reported. The 39-year-old Tate continues to strongly deny "all allegations", a spokesperson told the BBC.

The three women said the reopening of the investigation was overdue. "We have never given up our quest for justice," they said in a statement. Together with a fourth woman, the three had already taken their allegations to court, with the civil trial due to start next June.

Multiple allegations and proceedings

Andrew Tate and his younger brother Tristan are also facing proceedings in Romania, where they also deny the allegations. Once completed, they are to be extradited to the UK for further proceedings involving allegations of rape and human trafficking. Bedfordshire Police had issued an international arrest warrant for the siblings. The allegations in this case date back to the years 2012 to 2015.

The Tate brothers were born in the USA, but moved to Luton, north of London, with their mother after their parents divorced. They have US and British citizenship and live in Romania. Andrew Tate, a former kickboxer, reached millions of teenagers and young men with misogynistic statements on social networks. His brother Tristan assisted him.
