Pope Leo XIV has prayed for the victims of the shooting rampage in Graz, Austria, and their families. The head of the Catholic Church said at his weekly general audience in the Vatican: "I would like to express my prayers for the victims of the tragedy at the school in Graz. I am close to the families, teachers and classmates."

A 21-year-old man shot and killed ten people at the school on Tuesday: ten pupils aged between 15 and 17 and a teacher. He then shot himself. Eleven people are in hospital with injuries, most of them in intensive care. According to the hospital, all of them are now in a stable condition.
