German Vice-Chancellor Robert Habeck (Greens) has had to cancel an important meeting during his trip to China. An appointment with Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang that had been hoped for on Saturday will not take place.

The appointment was "not feasible in the morning before departure", according to the Federal Minister of Economics' delegation on Friday. Habeck plans to travel on to Shanghai on the second day of his visit to China.

He will meet "a whole series of cabinet colleagues" on Saturday, Habeck said. "So the day is full enough." He knows Li Qiang from his time in Schleswig-Holstein state politics, so there is "a history we can build on". He had no idea why the appointment did not materialize.
