As an internationally networked and export-oriented economy, Switzerland remains dependent on clear rules and the freest possible access to markets, Keller-Sutter told the assembled Swiss entrepreneurs.
Multilateralism and the liberal world trade order had "been slipping for some time", not just with the second administration of US President Donald Trump, she continued. Corona, climate change and the energy crisis in the wake of the Russian war of aggression have accelerated the change.
Protectionism and industrial policy have become socially acceptable again, even in liberal states. "The world has lost its balance and it will probably take a while to find a new one," said the 61-year-old.
