As part of the inspection campaign by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), the prices in 3651 barbershops, hairdressing salons and beauty studios were checked this year. The vast majority of them stated their prices correctly, Seco announced on Monday.
Around one in ten of the barbershops, hairdressing salons and beauty studios were found to have missing price lists for goods and services in the store or in the store window, according to the press release. In a further 12 percent of the stores inspected, the prices were incomplete or incorrectly displayed.
Less than a quarter of all inspected providers had to be asked by the cantonal enforcement authorities to correct inadequate price information retrospectively. In 15 cases, the deadline imposed was not met. According to the Confederation, this resulted in a total of eight fines and seven criminal charges.
According to the press release, price disclosure is an important instrument for fair competition and consumer protection. The State Secretariat for Economic Affairs wants to make providers aware of this with the annual inspection campaign. The next inspection will be dedicated to the price disclosure of garages.
