The public prosecutor's office requested acquittals for all defendants in connection with the wheelchair accident on a hiking trail at the district court in Mels on Wednesday. The lawyer for the private plaintiff, on the other hand, demanded guilty verdicts for negligent bodily harm.
At the center of the proceedings is the question of whether seven persons responsible at the time from the municipality of Bad Ragaz, the Pizolbahnen and Heidiland Tourism bear responsibility for the accident. The public prosecutor stated that no criminally relevant conduct could be proven.
The lawyer for the private plaintiff involved in the accident disagreed. He demanded seven guilty verdicts for negligent grievous bodily harm. The path had been advertised on the internet as wheelchair-accessible, but had not been sufficiently developed for this purpose.
A woman was seriously injured in the accident on the so-called Heidi Trail. When her companion's wheelchair skidded, they both fell down an embankment. The woman was trapped under the wheelchair and suffered paraplegia.
