Folding case or bumper? Shockproof, waterproof, made of silicone, aluminum, leather, cork or wood? With the right case and a suitable protective film, you can ensure a long, happy cell phone life. But which case is best for you? We'll make your search easier.

Your beloved smartphone is not only your faithful companion in the digital world, but its resource-intensive production also puts a real strain on the real world. So the longer you use it, the more it benefits not only the environment, but ultimately your wallet too.

Whether it accidentally falls out of your pocket onto the hard concrete, takes an unintentional dive or simply spends a lot of time with your bunch of keys in your pocket - everyday life puts your cell phone to the test. Fortunately, you don't have to stand idly by and watch. There are a variety of ways to protect your cell phone. You just have to decide.

Crystal clear view, optimum protection

Let's start at the beginning - literally: the cell phone display is your window to the digital world. If your phone case doesn't already come with a screen protector, you can effectively protect it from scratches and cracks with a suitable film. To do this, stick the protective film directly onto the screen. This involves a little effort. But it's worth it! Important: When buying, make sure that the film really fits your phone. And with a screen protector with privacy shield, you not only protect your display from scratches, but also from prying eyes.

Did you know that there are also protective films for your cell phone camera(s)? With lens protection from PanzerGlassTM, for example, you can ensure that you capture your perfect moments unclouded and free from scratches.

Which case is the right one?

Once the protective film is on, it's time for the case. Two things are important when choosing the right case: firstly, it must protect the display on the front and the cameras on the back. Secondly, it must have internal protection to prevent scratches caused by sand or dust inside the case. Then you should ask yourself what you really need. If you work at height on a construction site, impact protection is probably your top priority. If you like sailing, you should invest in a waterproof case.

Types of cell phone cases

The classic case: Usually made of robust plastic (TPU: thermoplastic polyurethane), synthetic rubber or silicone, these cases offer solid protection for your phone against scratches, knocks and drops. They enclose the back and sides of the device and allow access to all ports and buttons.

Flip covers/folding cases: These cases have a front flap that protects the phone's display and are often made of leather or imitation leather. Opinions are divided about these cases, which are somewhat pointedly referred to as "boomer phone cases". But as the saying goes: "There's no accounting for taste".

Bumpers: On the other side of this spectrum we find the minimalist bumper cases. Usually made of shock-absorbing material such as rubber or silicone, they only cover the sides of the phone and offer light protection, while leaving the design of the device largely uncovered and thus not significantly changing the appearance of your phone.

Outdoor cases: Particularly robust, water, shock and impact-resistant, these cases protect your smartphone from extreme conditions. Made from durable materials such as polycarbonate or TPU, these small cases are ideal for outdoor activities or working environments where your phone is subject to heavy use. No matter what you're up to, you can rely on these cases!

Battery cases: With an integrated battery, these cases not only protect your phone from damage, but also extend the battery life. This is particularly practical if you use your phone excessively or in situations where no power socket is available. Disadvantage: Of course, these models are not particularly lightweight.

Important: No matter which phone case you choose, make sure that it is compatible with your phone model and is also suitable for inductive charging if you wish.
