"We can only hope that people wake up, that they don't vote right-wing, that they take another really close look at the election manifestos," emphasized Heike Makatsch (53). "I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that the wind will change."
At a protest organized by the aid organization SOS Humanity, many celebrities also spoke out for "more humanity in the Mediterranean", Makatsch explained the protest. "We are appealing to the fact that people in need, fleeing and seeking asylum, must first be taken in by us," she emphasized.
Holding signs and scarves, many celebrities joined the protest on Saturday evening - including Merlin Sandmeyer and Marc Hosemann ("Die Discounter"), Anna Thalbach and Rosalie Thomass. The action was underlined musically by singer Marlo Grosshardt, who sang about his fear of right-wing politics in the song "Oma".
At the opening of the Berlinale on Thursday, actresses Meret Becker and Anna Thalbach had already held up a scarf with the inscription "Humanity for all".
