In the harassment trial against Gérard Depardieu, the public prosecutor's office has demanded an 18-month prison sentence with a three-year suspended sentence. This would mean that the French actor would not have to go to prison if he complied with the conditions.

According to the public prosecutor's office, these would include mandatory psychological counseling and entry in the register for sex offenders. The prosecution also demanded a fine of 20,000 euros.
Public prosecutor demands equal treatment
The case is about sexual assault, emphasized public prosecutor Laurent Guy in his plea. You can be an excellent actor, you can be an excellent family man, that has nothing to do with the crimes you can commit. He asked the court to judge Gérard Depardieu in the same way as any other defendant.
In the tense trial, two women - a set decorator and an assistant director - accused the famous French actor of indecently touching them on their buttocks, breasts and private parts during the shooting of director Jean Becker's film "Les volets verts" (The Green Shutters) in 2021.
Depardieu denies deliberate harassment
During the trial, Depardieu denied having sexually harassed both women. In the case of the decorator, however, he admitted to having touched her on the hips, but emphasized that this had not been meant sexually.
