MediaRadio is widely listened to despite partial FM switch-off

93% of the Swiss resident population listened to the radio at least once a week in the second half of 2025. Radio usage remained stable in the second half of the year following the FM switch-off. This is shown by data from the Mediapulse Foundation.

From July to December 2025, a person aged 15 and over spent an average of 76 minutes per day listening to live content from domestic and foreign radio stations, as reported by the Mediapulse Foundation on Monday.
The average daily reach was 69%, which corresponds to 5.13 million people, two percent lower than in the same period last year. According to the data on radio distribution and use, 6.95 million people listened to the radio each week.
Those who used the radio listened to the program for an average of 110 minutes per day, the report continued. Listeners from German-speaking Switzerland listened to the radio the longest. They used it for almost two hours a day. In Italian-speaking Switzerland, the usage time was 111 minutes and in French-speaking Switzerland 93 minutes.
Even in the second half of the year, after SRG ceased broadcasting via FM (in January 2025), daily listening time remained stable. According to Mediapulse, although the use of individual stations has changed, the overall volume of radio usage has not yet been affected.
