Raiffeisen doubled every donation up to a total amount of one million francs, as the bank announced on Monday. In addition, the Raiffeisen Jubilee Foundation intends to support the reconstruction of the Blatten region.
The donations will flow directly to the Swiss Sponsorship for Mountain Communities and the Swiss Red Cross, which are working with the authorities to support people and projects. They are using the donations for emergency measures, clean-up and repair work, the reconstruction of public facilities and bridging aid, among other things.
The village in the Lötschental also received large donations from Swiss Solidarity, which had collected over 17 million for the village by mid-June. Blatten received five million francs from the federal government. Meanwhile, the Patenschaft für Berggemeinden has already pledged CHF 7.5 million in donations for the devastated village and its inhabitants.
