Following a series of arson attacks on the French rail network, rail traffic has slowly returned to normal. 80 percent of trains should be running normally again, the rail operator SNCF announced on Saturday.

The high-speed TGV train is running according to schedule again on the routes from Paris to the east. On the routes to the west, south-west and Brittany, there were delays of one to two hours and individual train cancellations. The transportation of the teams to the Olympic Games competitions is guaranteed, it said.

The arson attacks on critical points of the French high-speed rail network on Friday night severely disrupted rail traffic shortly before the start of the Olympic Games. It is not yet known who is behind the attacks. Unknown persons had set fire to equipment on several TGV lines. Meanwhile, the railroads stepped up their surveillance measures.
