The theme of this year's storytelling night is "Time Travel", according to the Swiss Institute for Children's and Youth Media. It invites you to travel to the past or future with books. Criminal cases can be solved thanks to time travel, great historical epochs can be experienced up close and fantastic worlds of tomorrow can be explored.
According to the press release, over 770 storytelling night events are taking place in Switzerland - including almost 500 in German-speaking Switzerland. In many places, entire school buildings take part, in other places, such as Einsiedeln, reading takes place on a walk and in the Thun City Library, young listeners can assign a cozy place to sleep in the library to the cuddly toy they have brought with them after listening to tales of knights.
Tens of thousands of children, young people and adults are expected to indulge in the stories and thus experience "reading promotion - in a very practical way". The annual storytelling night is an initiative of the Swiss Institute for Children's and Youth Media in collaboration with Bibliomedia Switzerland and Unicef Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
