The basic training in the RS lasts 18 weeks. There are 2728 cadre members responsible for training future members of the armed forces, 157 of whom are women. The proportion of women in the first recruit schools in 2026 is therefore 2.4 percent overall, as announced by the Defense Group.
1534 new members of the armed forces are serving under the "Durchdiener" model. The training is geared towards defending against military attacks from the start of the RS, it said. Specialist skills such as training as a driver or paramedic can also be used in civilian life.
ECTS points can also be earned for training courses. This applies in particular to non-commissioned officers, senior non-commissioned officers and officers. They can also benefit from training credits.
