Renault boss Luca De Meo is leaving the French car manufacturer. According to his own statement, the top manager wants to take on new challenges in another industry.

After five years at the helm of the Renault Group, the Italian manager has announced his decision to "step down and take on new challenges outside the automotive sector", the automotive group announced on Sunday. De Meo will leave the company on July 15.
The company did not initially provide any further details. According to an unconfirmed report in the French daily newspaper "Le Figaro", De Meo is to take over the management of the French luxury goods group Kering from billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault. Pinault currently has a dual role as head of the Executive Board and the Board of Directors. Kering owns brands such as Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga and Bottega Veneta.
