A 76-year-old racing cyclist was seriously injured on the A2 highway in Hergiswil NW on Friday. He crashed on the short section of highway without any third party involvement, as reported by the Nidwalden cantonal police on Saturday.

It is not yet known why the man drove onto the highway heading north. The racing cyclist fell in the area of the open Lopper section. The ambulance took him to hospital.
