Dog ownership Rottweiler club plans to lodge an appeal against Zurich ban

He understands that the Zurich government had to react to the two dog attacks, Horn told Radio SRF 1's "Regionaljournal Zürich-Schaffhausen", but a breed ban would not solve any problems.
Instead of banning Rottweilers in general, the Zurich government should rather tighten the requirements for dog owners, i.e. introduce more courses and controls.
Majority of dogs imported
Another problem is that around 300 of the 350 Rottweilers registered in the canton of Zurich are imported from abroad. If they come from controlled breeding, this is fine. If not, however, you don't know what kind of dog you are getting. Horn and his fellow campaigners are now expected to lodge an appeal by the end of the year.
The ban on the purchase of new Rottweilers was triggered by attacks on children in Adlikon and Winterthur. Anyone who already owns such a dog must apply for a permit from January 1. Rottweilers will be subject to a character test.
Breeds such as American Bull Terriers, Pit Bull Terriers and American Staffordshire Terriers have already been on the banned list in the canton of Zurich since 2010. The reason for the introduction of the ban list was a pit bull attack in 2005, in which a six-year-old boy was bitten to death in Oberglatt ZH.
