RSI, the radio and television station for Italian-speaking Switzerland, plans to save a further CHF 7 million by 2026 and is cutting 37 full-time positions. There will also be redundancies.

The job cuts will be managed as far as possible through natural fluctuation and early retirement with a social plan, according to an RSI press release on Thursday. Nevertheless, redundancies are planned. The savings will affect all areas of the company.

Director Mario Timbal presented the details of the cost-cutting measures planned until 2026 to employees, according to the statement.

As already announced last September, RSI is forced to make new savings due to the partial compensation for the concession increase decided by the Federal Council and the continuing decline in advertising revenue.

CHF 5 million and 15 full-time positions had already been cut in 2025.
