On balance, the Zurich-based health insurer achieved a profit of 125.7 million francs, as announced on Thursday. This corresponds to an increase of a good 27 percent compared to the previous year. The majority of this came from supplementary insurance and an "exceptionally good" financial result from investments, the company explained.

Premium income rose by 6.4 percent to CHF 3.74 billion. The number of basic policyholders increased by 0.7 percent to a good 655,000 and the number of supplementary policyholders by 0.8 percent to just over 672,000. Sanitas now has a total of just under 878,000 customers (+1.2 percent). This does not include new policyholders with contracts starting on January 1, 2026.

Thanks to the overall positive annual results, consolidated equity increased by more than 10 percent to 1.31 billion Swiss francs, according to the information provided. With this solid financial position, Sanitas can continue to invest, particularly in products, services and IT, it said.
