Quake in Santorini felt in Athens

A brief shake and wobble, then it was over again: many people in Athens felt an earthquake this afternoon. It was the foothills of one of the most recent quakes in the region around the vacation island of Santorini - around 230 kilometers away. The earth is currently shaking there almost every ten minutes. The most recent quake, the strongest to date in the series of earthquakes in the region, which has been going on for twelve days, confirms the assumptions of seismologists that the disturbing phenomenon in the Aegean will initially increase in strength - until there is finally a main quake and the situation eases. However, nobody can predict when this will happen and how strong the main quake might be.
