The Schoeller Group, based in Pullach near Munich, was the best bidder in a tender process and signed a purchase agreement with the previous owner company, according to the press release. Closing is expected to take place in the first quarter of 2025.
The parties have agreed to keep the details of the transaction confidential. With a height of 120 meters and 33 floors, the Upper West is one of the most striking landmarks in Berlin's City West. The approximately 55,000 square meter commercial property in the immediate vicinity of the historic Memorial Church includes offices, a hotel as well as retail and restaurant units.
The German industrialist family Schoeller had already acquired several projects from the insolvent Signa Prime in Italy in spring 2024. These include the 5-star Hotel Bauer in Venice, the WaltherPark currently under construction and the Viva Virgolo development project in Bolzano. In June 2024, Schoeller also took over the Luxembourg division of Signa Prime.
