Cantonal Council SZ Schwyz parliament elects Michael Stähli as new Landammann
Michael Stähli, Director of Education, will take over the office of Landammann of the canton of Schwyz for the next two years. He succeeds the current Landammann and Director of Construction André Rüegsegger (SVP) from Brunnen.

Michael Stähli, previously State Governor, received 87 out of 99 votes at the meeting of the Schwyz Cantonal Council on Thursday. The 56-year-old centrist politician from Lachen has been Director of Education for eight years. He was a member of the Cantonal Council from 2000 to 2016.
Before his election to the Schwyz cantonal council, Stähli was managing director of an architecture firm in Lachen. He is married and has two children.
The cantonal council elected Sandro Patierno (center) as the new state governor for the 2024-2026 term of office with 89 out of 98 votes. The environmental director has been a member of the Schwyz government for four years.
