Helene Budliger Artieda, State Secretary for Economic Affairs, has thanked Swiss entrepreneurs for their meeting with US President Donald Trump. The State Secretariat for Economic Affairs was informed about the gifts she brought with her, she said.

The State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (Seco) "deliberately did not get involved in the election and procurement, as it was a private initiative", said Budliger Artieda from the "Neue Zürcher Zeitung" in an interview on Tuesday when asked about the gifts.

The gifts - a Rolex and a gold bar - that the Swiss business delegation presented to Trump at a meeting in early November have come under fire. The Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland received three criminal complaints against persons unknown in connection with the meeting.

Due to the ongoing legal investigations, she could not comment on the charges, said the Seco Director in an interview. However, she was very pleased about the initiative of the entrepreneurs. Their visit to Washington had been decisive.
