South Korea has already recorded eleven heat-related deaths this summer. As the official news agency Yonhap reported, citing data from the Disease Control and Prevention Agency, five deaths due to the high temperatures were recorded this weekend alone. These include farmers who collapsed from exhaustion while working in the fields. Since last Monday, there have also been 386 admissions to the emergency room.

Large parts of South Korea have been suffering from a widespread heatwave since last week, with daytime temperatures of over 35 degrees and very warm nights. Some counties have even recorded temperatures of almost 40 degrees Celsius. According to data from the Korean Meteorological Agency, the heatwave is expected to continue for around ten more days.
