Jens Spahn, leader of the Union parliamentary group, is stepping down amid the controversy surrounding his decision to have a child via a surrogate mother in the United States. This is according to a letter from Spahn to the members of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group, which has been obtained by the German Press Agency.
