The trains are to run on the Vienna - Graz - Klagenfurt - Villach route from March 2026, as Stadler announced on Wednesday. The trains will be built at the domestic plant in Bussnang. The order volume is not specified.

The "Smile" is Stadler's first high-speed train in Austria with a top speed of 250 kilometers per hour. The new trains will allow the Austrian Westbahn to expand its services on the aforementioned route.

Stadler had already supplied trains to Westbahn in the past, including "Kiss" double-decker trains.
