Stadler Rail has landed a major contract in the USA. The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (Marta) has commissioned the rail manufacturer to equip the entire rail network with a new signaling system.

The contract stipulates that Stadler will replace the old system with a train control system of the latest generation within eight years of the start of the project, as the Thurgau-based company announced on Thursday evening. This new system will ensure greater safety and efficiency.

And for Stadler, the major 500 million US dollar order from the state of Georgia represents an international breakthrough in this business area. It is the largest order in the company's history in the signaling sector.

The Thurgau-based company's train control system is called Stadler CBTC, which stands for Communication-Based Train Control. It uses wireless communication to precisely localize trains at all times. Thanks to the real-time information about the train's position and speed, trains can be controlled more precisely, safely and efficiently.
