An osteopath has won a stage victory before the Federal Administrative Court in connection with the recognition of her training in Germany. The Swiss Red Cross must review the content of her application for recognition.

Since February, qualifications obtained abroad must be recognized in Switzerland. The reason for this is the Health Professions Act, which came into force in 2020. This formulated uniform requirements for training and practising the profession of osteopathy. However, many osteopaths working in Switzerland completed their training abroad.

The law's transitional period expired at the end of January. The complainant is one of an estimated 800 and 1000 people who have to undergo the recognition procedure in German-speaking Switzerland.

According to a ruling by the Federal Administrative Court published on Wednesday, the Swiss Red Cross (SRC) should have accepted the application. The SRC is responsible for examining foreign qualifications.
