On the site of the former Coop distribution center in Pratteln BL, construction work began on Friday for a new district with 470 apartments. This is a construction project by six non-profit developers, as announced by the "Zentrale Pratteln" consortium

The excavation pit was inaugurated with an aperitif on Friday in the presence of Eva Herzog (SP), member of the Basel Council of States. The development, to be known as "Zentrale Pratteln", should be completed by the end of 2026 at the latest. Around 15,000 square meters of commercial space will already be available by the end of 2025.
The apartments will offer space for around 1,200 people "at a fair rent", as stated on the consortium's website. The "Zentrale Pratteln" is a project by the developers Wohnbau-Genossenschaft Nordwest, Logis Suisse, Gewona Nord-West, Mietshäuser Syndikat Basel, Homebase and Habitare Schweiz.
