Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Stranded whale is moved by barge
The humpback whale stranded on the Baltic Sea coast has been moved from its previous position off the island of Poel by barge. The barge filled with water, with which the whale is to be brought to the North Sea, was pushed away by several smaller boats in the evening, as could be seen in livestreams.

The marine mammal, which had been stranded off the island of Poel since March 31, had previously been towed to the barge through a specially dredged channel. In deeper water, the motorless barge with the whale is to be taken over by a tugboat and towed into the North Sea.
The transfer of the animal to the barge took several hours. Members of the rescue team pulled the whale to the barge using straps. The animal was finally in the lowered barge at 2.45 pm.
