Flooding Stream overflows its banks and floods highway near Augst BL

The Rauschenbächlein stream burst its banks between Füllinsdorf BL and Giebenach BL shortly after 8.30 a.m. on Friday morning. This flooded the A2/A3 highway between the Liestal junction and the Augst junction. There were considerable traffic obstructions, as the cantonal police of Baselland reported on Friday.

According to the police, two of the four lanes in the Bern/Lucerne direction had to be closed due to the water on the road. When the fire department and police arrived, large volumes of water were still flowing across the highway. However, the fire department was subsequently able to stop the flow of water on the highway section, according to the report.
