The street lighting in the west of the city of Bern failed on Friday evening. The reason was a fault in an upstream line, as the responsible energy supply company Energie Wasser Bern announced on the online platform X on Saturday morning.

The lights in the buildings were still on, as a reporter from the Keystone-SDA news agency observed on site. At Europaplatz, only the lights of stores and advertising signs were still lit on Friday evening. Everything else was dark, the reporter reported.
The Bern cantonal police confirmed a report by the news platform 20minuten.ch that the street lighting was out in the west of the city. The streets at Bern railroad station and in the Lorraine district were illuminated, as another reporter from Keystone-SDA observed.
