The American sandwich chain Subway has big expansion plans in Switzerland. Over the next seven years, more than 70 fast-food restaurants will be opened in Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

This will more than double the brand's presence in the region, Convenience House Schweiz AG announced on Wednesday. It will take over the exclusive rights to manage and develop all Subway locations in the two countries.

"Subway is a well-established, globally recognized brand with committed franchisees and a loyal customer base," said Sebastian Becker, CEO of Convenience House Schweiz AG. The aim now is to consolidate Subway's position and take the brand "to new heights".
