The British Navy's Maritime Trade Office (UKMTO) is reporting electrical faults on ships in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz near Iran. Several reports have reached the regulator, according to the short message. There is a significant impact on the so-called automatic identification systems (AIS), which are used to exchange navigation and ship data via radio.

The authority recommends that crews exercise caution. Faults should continue to be reported to the UKTMO. The authority did not provide any information on the reasons for the disruptions.

Israel has been attacking Iran since Friday night. Iran is responding with counter-attacks on Israel. Iran has threatened to block the Strait of Hormuz in the past. This is an important oil transport route at the southern tip of the country. The passage is still open.
