The alleged perpetrator of the violent attack in Örebro, Sweden, is a 35-year-old man. This was announced by the police after all eleven dead had been identified. A total of seven women and four men aged between 28 and 68 died as a result of the shooting at the adult education center on Tuesday. The eleven deceased came from the province of Örebro.
The statement went on to say that the investigation will show whether or not the suspicion against the 35-year-old man, who is one of the deceased, is confirmed. According to the police, however, most of the evidence currently points to the 35-year-old being the perpetrator.
35-year-old probably had a connection to the school
The police had previously announced that there were indications that the man was a former pupil of Risbergska School, where the crime took place. Investigators also announced that the suspected shooter was in possession of four weapons and the corresponding licenses. Three of the weapons were found at the scene of the crime.
Investigators currently assume that the perpetrator acted alone and that it was not an act of terrorism. According to the investigators, the 35-year-old was not previously known to the police. The motive for the crime is still unclear.
Örebro is located around 200 kilometers west of the Swedish capital Stockholm. The Risbergska campus is a kind of educational center where adults aged 20 and over can attend secondary school and high school courses as well as language courses and vocational training.
