Several people broke into a gun store in Valais on Sunday night. The suspects had an accident while fleeing in their car and were arrested.

The break-in at the gun store in Sion was reported shortly after 3.30 a.m., as the police wrote in a press release on Sunday. The perpetrators fled with the stolen goods in a car they had stolen in Upper Valais.
After being spotted by a police patrol, they lost control of their car on the road from Aproz to Sion, according to police reports. They abandoned it and fled on foot. They left the stolen goods in the vehicle.
The police launched a major search operation. They were able to arrest two suspects near the scene of the accident. They were a 19-year-old Belgian and an 18-year-old Congolese national. The public prosecutor's office initiated an investigation. The stolen goods were seized.
There have been repeated thefts of weapons in Switzerland in recent weeks. On July 17, unknown persons stole handguns in Altstätten SG. On July 21, perpetrators broke into gun stores in Evionnaz VS and Gossau SG. There were further attempts in the canton of Zurich.
