The savings are therefore ten percent higher than in the previous year, Suva announced on Tuesday. The cost savings will benefit Suva policyholders in the form of lower premiums.
During invoice verification, the medical expense invoices received by Suva are automatically checked by the system. Each invoice is checked to see whether the costs charged correspond to the services provided, Suva wrote. Most rejections are due to duplicate invoices and incorrectly invoiced or uninsured services.
Other measures taken by Suva to curb premiums include tools for the electronic exchange of data and information with service providers, tariff agreements with doctors, hospitals and therapists, advice on the application of tariffs and the checking of applications for reimbursement of costs and cost estimates.
