Swiss plane returns after emergency landing in Kazakhstan

The A350 aircraft landed in Zurich at 06.45 on Friday morning, as the airline announced on Friday. The original flight was en route from the South Korean capital Seoul to Zurich on Wednesday.

Due to a medical emergency involving the co-pilot, the plane had to make an unscheduled landing in Almaty. Three doctors on board were able to provide first aid, but recommended a stopover in order to provide the patient with the necessary medical care, Swiss announced on Wednesday. After landing, the co-pilot was taken to hospital.

All passengers on the return flight were guests on the original flight. Six passengers continued their journey from Almaty elsewhere. The passengers who arrived in Zurich were rebooked onto connecting flights in order to reach their final destinations.

The co-pilot who fell ill is still in Almaty. He is in good health, according to the press release issued on Friday. A crew member has also remained with him on site. Swiss regrets the inconvenience caused to passengers and emphasized that the health of its colleague had top priority.
