Tourism Swiss hotel industry records more overnight stays in January
After a record year in 2024, the Swiss hotel industry has also made a good start to 2025. Once again, more overnight stays were recorded in January than in the previous year.

The number of overnight stays increased by 3.5 percent in January compared to the same month last year, as reported by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) on Monday. A total of 3.2 million guests stayed overnight in local hotels.
The increase in January is due to the strong growth in foreign tourists. Here, overnight stays rose by 8.5 percent to 1.5 million compared to the same month last year. In contrast, domestic guests recorded a slight decrease of 0.7 percent.
The hotel industry is therefore still on a high. With 42.8 million overnight stays last year, the industry once again surpassed the peak value from 2023.
