Swiss hotels once again accommodated more guests in October than in the previous year. According to an initial estimate by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) on Monday, the number of overnight stays increased by 4.0 percent. This continues the positive trend of the previous months.

The increase in overnight stays by Swiss guests amounted to 5.7%. Among international guests, the number of overnight stays in October was 2.2% higher than in the previous year.
From January to the end of September, the industry had already registered 34.4 million overnight stays (+1.9%). With the October figures that have now been published, the hotel industry is clearly on course to once again surpass the record of 42.8 million overnight stays from the previous year.
The FSO will publish a second estimate of the September figures on November 24. The definitive and absolute figures for January to October will follow on December 8.
