Specifically, inflation was +0.1 percent, as announced by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) on Thursday. In May, it had been -0.1 percent. The experts surveyed by the news agency AWP had also almost unanimously expected -0.1 percent for June.
Inflation in Switzerland had been on the decline for months. It has been below 1 percent since September 2024 and last exceeded 2 percent in spring 2023.
Consumer prices for domestic goods rose by 0.7% in June 2025 compared to the same month last year, while inflation for imported goods was -1.9%. Core inflation - excluding fresh and seasonal products, energy and fuel - also rose year-on-year to +0.6% from +0.5% in May.
Meanwhile, the national consumer price index (CPI) climbed by 0.2% to 107.8 points compared to the previous month of May 2025. According to the FSO, the increase was due to various factors, including higher prices in the hotel and para-hotel industry and for package tours abroad.
Rents for private transportation and prices for various vegetables also rose. By contrast, prices for air travel, petrol and stone fruit fell.
