In the "Topicality" category, Anne Morgenstern ("Neue Zürcher Zeitung") won over the jury with a photo series about fans of pop singer Taylor Swift. Second prize went to Alessandro della Valle from the Keystone-SDA news agency and third prize to Michael Buholzer, also a Keystone-SDA photographer.

First place in the "Everyday Life" category went to Sébastien Anex ("Swiss Family") for his photographs of the Bernese Oberland municipality of Lütschental. Second place went to Annick Ramp from the "Neue Zürcher Zeitung" and third place to Boris Müller from "Wertpapier" magazine.

The race for the main prize in the "Swiss Stories" category was won by Rahel Zuber with analog photos of agricultural sites in Zurich. Second place went to Jonathan Labusch with his photos of ESC star Nemo. Both series remained unpublished. Third-placed Marie-Lou Dumauthioz's photographs of a Vaudois shooting club were again published in "24 heures".

Kostas Maros ("Basler Zeitung") won first place in the "Portrait" category for his pictures of Noémi Speiser, a pioneer in textile research. Runner-up Maurice Haas ("Das Magazin") photographed chef David Heimer, while third-placed Noëlle Guidon ("NZZ am Sonntag") was honored for her pictures of National Councillor Anna Rosenwasser.

Joseph Khakshouri ("Schweizer Illustrierte") won the "Sport" category for his pictures of the World Cycling Championships in Zurich. Silas Zindel ("Neue Zürcher Zeitung") took second place with his series of a synchronized swimmer, while Katja Schmidlin, who came third, captured a figure skating competition for the "Wochenblatt Laufental" newspaper.

Dominic Nahr ("Neue Zürcher Zeitung") led the "Foreign" category, as he did the year before. The "Swiss Press Photographer of the Year 2024" documented the civil war-torn city of Taiz in Yemen. Second place went to Tiziana Amico ("Republik") and third place to Mario Heller ("Neue Zürcher Zeitung").

The award ceremony will take place on April 25 at the "Swiss Press Awards" in Bern. The Swiss Press Photographer of the Year will also be chosen at this event. The six category winners are nominated for this award. The Swiss Press Awards are presented by the Fondation Reinhard von Graffenried.
