A 26-year-old man was knocked down and then robbed by three unknown men in Wetzikon ZH on Friday evening. The man, who was seriously injured in the head, was able to get to hospital on his own.

The incident took place at around 11 p.m., the Zurich cantonal police reported on Saturday. The 26-year-old Swiss man was on foot when he was attacked by three men and knocked down with a hard object. He then lost consciousness.

When he woke up again, the men continued to beat him and then stole his cell phone, watch and wallet. They then fled.

The victim was able to run home on his own to a colleague before going to hospital and alerting the police. The perpetrators were said to be men between the ages of 25 and 30 who spoke Swiss German. The police began an investigation with the Public Prosecutor's Office I for Serious Violent Crime.
