Several fire departments were deployed in the early hours of Wednesday evening following a severe thunderstorm in the canton of Schwyz. The road between Brunnen and Morschach had to be closed for four hours due to fallen trees and stones on the road. No one was injured.

The operations center received around 35 emergency calls, according to the Schwyz cantonal police on Thursday. The Oberiberg, Muotathal and Ingenbohl fire departments were deployed due to water ingress into houses and fallen trees.

Lightning struck a building in Studen. According to a press release, the Unteriberg fire department did not detect a fire and was able to make makeshift repairs to the damaged roof.

On Wednesday, 40 to 50 millimetres of rain were measured in one hour in Oberiberg, as MeteoSwiss wrote on X on Wednesday. There were heavy squalls in places. In Einsiedeln, it blew at 110 kilometers per hour.
