A cable fault led to a power outage lasting several hours in parts of Basel on Sunday morning. 3,500 customers of the cantonal electricity supplier IWB were without power for up to five hours.

The power outage occurred at 4.15 a.m. in Grossbasel, according to IWB. Because problematic power fluctuations occurred during the repair work, the power supply was restored in stages. The last electricity consumers were back on the grid at 09:00.
