Swimming accident 82-year-old dies while swimming in Lake Biel

An 82-year-old man died while swimming in Lake Biel on Friday. The police assumed that the man had a medical problem in the incident in Sutz-Lattrigen. He was found lifeless in the lake in the afternoon and was rescued from the water by third parties.

The man got into difficulties while swimming and died, the Bernese Jura-Seeland regional public prosecutor's office announced on Saturday. The accident occurred at around 4.30 p.m. on the bathing mat at Rütte-Gut.

After the man floated lifelessly in the water, people present rescued him and tried to resuscitate him. However, the Swiss national from the canton of Bern died at the scene.
