On March 8, the Swiss electorate will decide on the "CHF 200 is enough (SRG initiative)" initiative. For the Federal Council and Parliament, this reduction in fees goes too far. Media Minister Albert Rösti refers to the agreed reduction from CHF 335 to CHF 300.

According to a position paper published on Wednesday, opponents warn that if the popular initiative initiated by SVP circles is accepted, the SRG would have to close many production sites for reasons of efficiency. "The public would have less Swiss content available."
For Media Minister Rösti, who co-initiated the SRG halving initiative before his time in the Federal Council, the Federal Council's counter-project is the right way forward. According to this, the household fee will be reduced from CHF 335 to CHF 312 in 2027. Households will still pay CHF 300 in 2029.
In addition, the ordinance already adopted will exempt a further 65,000 or so companies from the levy. The initiative calls for the complete abolition of the corporate tax.
