He was confident that Switzerland would overcome the challenges, said Landammann Dieth at the ceremony in Bad Zurzach AG on Wednesday evening, according to the text of the speech. "If there is one thing that distinguishes Switzerland, it is our ability to stand together and act together."

He recalled team achievements in sport. A special core element of Switzerland is democracy in action. "In our country, we are not spectators in the stands who are only allowed to boo and cheer. We are players, coaches or runners ourselves," said Dieth: "In our country, we are all part of Team Switzerland." But it's not just a right to participate in political decisions - "we simply have to do it."

"We are not playing an unimportant test match"

Everyone can make a contribution to creating a better future for everyone, continued Dieth: "So let's not just celebrate our successes today, but also roll up our sleeves and get to work together." There is still a lot to do. "Success doesn't happen in a hammock."

The security situation has also changed for Switzerland and has become more complex and challenging. There are more tensions, conflicts and new threats such as cyber attacks and terrorism. Climate change is also exacerbating the global situation.

"We are not playing an unimportant test game. It is up to us as a society to take responsibility," Dieth stated.
