On the train from Interlaken to Spiez, a Russian-speaking man harasses a family who are talking in Ukrainian.
The incident is filmed and triggers fierce outrage.
A newly surfaced video shows the man attacking two women in Geneva in April of this year and following them into a toilet.
The clip of the Russian-speaking man verbally attacking a Ukrainian-speaking family on the train from Interlaken to Spiez caused outrage far beyond Switzerland. Two young sisters - probably Ukrainian - leaked a video of the same man to the news magazine "Nexta". They were harassed and insulted by him during a visit to Geneva in April.
One of the two women reports that she and her sister were standing in the queue for the toilet at a café on Lake Geneva. There they observed the man stroking a swan over the head and filmed it. The swan is said to have struggled and tried to escape from the man.
A nurse approached the man and asked him to leave the swan alone. He then became aggressive. He is said to have shouted obscenities and anti-Ukrainian insults, including: "You Chochols should all be killed."
A woman finally fled into the toilet in fear, but the man followed her, tore open the toilet door and shouted more threats. The nurse filmed what was happening in front of the toilet and tried to stop the man from entering the toilet area with one hand. Shortly afterwards, he hit the woman's cell phone - and the video recording broke off.
The nurses then ran back into the café in panic. The staff there called the police.
Man identified by the police
As the Polish news magazine "TVP World" reports, the man has now been identified. He is said to be a Latvian citizen named Aleksandrs V., who belongs to the country's Russian-speaking minority. During the incident on the train from Interlaken to Spiez, he repeated several times that he was Russian.
Aleksandrs V. is said to have a Swiss residence permit for citizens of EU member states, which is linked to an employment contract. He allegedly works at Zurich Airport.
